Birmingham City Star Set For Exit

Birmingham City have reportedly agreed to sanction an exit for one of their first-team players, following interest from several Championship sides.

Chris Davies’ side have experienced an unbeaten start to the 2024/25 league season since his arrival from Tottenham Hotspur, with Birmingham’s EFL Cup defeat against Fulham proving to be their first loss of the campaign.

The League One side have had a busy summer window so far, signing almost an entirely new first-team squad, whilst losing the likes of Marc Roberts, Juninho Bacuna and Jordan James on permanent deals.

However, with the transfer window set to conclude tomorrow, Birmingham City have handed one of their first-team players the green light to leave St. Andrews permanently.

As reported by Birmingham World, Birmingham City have granted winger Siriki Dembele permission to leave the League One side before the transfer window closes at 11 pm tomorrow.

Dembele has been a target for several Championship sides this summer including Swansea City and Blackburn Rovers but the reported fee was a stalling factor in the deal to see him depart.

Fellow journalist Alan Nixon confirmed that Birmingham had placed a £1.5m price tag on Dembele amongst rival interests but also stated an offer of £1m plus extras could also be welcomed.

It remains to be seen whether any of the interested parties make another move for the winger now he has reported permission to leave the football club.

Dembele began the 2024/25 League One season in the starting XI during their 1-1 draw against Reading on the opening day of the campaign.

The 27-year-old hasn’t featured since for Birmingham and was left out of the squad for their EFL Cup clash against Fulham in mid-week.

Birmingham have also signed QPR striker Lyndon Dykes earlier this week, which could have played a factor behind the decision to allow Dembele to leave.
