West Brom drop interest in 21-year-old attacker

West Brom have dropped their interest in young French forward Theo Le Bris, as per the Express and Star.

West Brom are looking to finish inside the top six again this season after reaching the play-off semi final last year
Carlos Corberan’s side got as close as they’ve been to a Premier League return last May, but it wasn’t to be and they were just short of getting over the line

This year it will be hoped those shortcomings are addressed and they go one step further this year in the second tier.
They’ve had quite a busy summer window and there are still rumours circulating with the Baggies expected to push hard to get another deal or two done before Friday.

One man they held interest in was Le Bris.

However, in an update, the Express and Star report that whilst an enquiry was made to Lorient, it is not expected to go any further than that.

The news comes after the Baggies also dropped their interest in Preston North End striker Will Keane despite testing their resolve with an approach.
Targeting a forward

The same report claims West Brom are eyeing a move for a forward between now and the deadline, but it does now remain to be seen who that will be.

Le Bris, 21, would have been a decent option. He is the nephew of the new Sunderland head coach Regis Le Bris and he played under his uncle last season.

The French wide man got two assists in 26 Ligue 1 games last season.

Before that he managed 27 appearances in France’s top tier and has built up a decent portfolio of experience at a high level despite his young age.

However, as things stand he seems set to stay in France, this time in Ligue 2 after Lorient suffered relegation last season.

The season so far

West Brom have seven points from their first three games. Two wins and a draw sees them inside the top six at this early stage.

There is still a long way to go yet, but the early signs are positive and do suggest that once again Corberan’s side will be a tough one to compete with this season.
Next up for the Baggies is a home clash against Swansea City. The Swans have four points from their opening three games and last time out picked up a point against Welsh rivals Cardiff City.

Luke Williams’ side will be hoping to climb inside the top half of the division this season, but this weekend they will be the underdogs in a tough fixture when they travel to The Hawthorns.
