CHECK OUT ; Summer Transfer Rumour
Wolves made a £20m bid for Koloesho last week – a suitable offer for a player in the Championship. The Clarets have sanctioned exits for a number of their key players since their clash against Luton Town earlier this month.
This is according to the BBC (26/8; 6:32pm), who have revealed that the Premier League side’s chances of recruiting the player have been reduced after they had a £20m bid rejected last week.
Coming into their first game of the season against the Hatters, they looked extremely strong and had a huge amount of depth, but it always looked as though they were going to lose some players before the end of the summer transfer window.
However, some fans would have expected some of their fringe players to be offloaded along with one or two key first-teamers.
But since that 4-1 victory at Kenilworth Road, some fans have been upset about the number of players that have been offloaded.
Wilson Odobert, Scott Twine, Sander Berge, Anass Zaroury, Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Dara O’Shea have all secured moves away from Turf Moor, along with Michael Obafemi, who has joined Plymouth Argyle on loan.
Plenty of their current first-teamers have also been linked with a move away from Lancashire in recent times.
James Trafford has been linked with a move to Newcastle United on numerous occasions, Ameen Al-Dakhil seems to be closing in on a move to Stuttgart, Maxime Esteve has been linked with a Premier League return, midfield duo Josh Brownhill and Han Noah-Massengo have been the subject of interest from elsewhere and a move for Manuel Benson can’t be ruled out either.
It would be a surprise if Wout Weghorst doesn’t move on as well, so there could be plenty of movement in the transfer market between now and the end of the summer window, with players also set to join.
But that offer was rejected and it has now been reported by the BBC that the top-tier side’s chances of signing the player are now fading.
The 19-year-old still has three years left on his contract at Turf Moor and with this in mind, as well as the sales they have made, the Clarets are in a strong negotiating position and can probably afford to retain the teenager beyond the end of the summer transfer window.
He wasn’t in the squad for last weekend’s clash against Sunderland – and it remains to be seen when he will return.
The Clarets have already seen some of their wide options sold and loaned out this summer.
Wilson Odobert and Anass Zaroury have left, along with Johann Berg Gudmundsson, who can also operate on the wing.
Darko Churlinov and Dara Costelloe, meanwhile, have been loaned out and both may not have a future at Turf Moor.
An exit for Manuel Benson can’t be ruled out either – and although they have some decent wide options still at their disposal – selling another key player would be a mistake.
Too much movement between now and the end of the window could be detrimental for the Clarets.
