LATEST: Big Exit In Leicester City! Will City Allow Their Star Man To leave?
Premier League Leicester City have agreed a deal with League One Wigan Athletic for the loan departure of winger Silko Thomas, according to reports.
The League One side have seen off interest from a number of Championship clubs to secure the 20-year-old’s signature on a season long loan.
This move will mark the winger’s first spell out on loan having spent his entire career to date within Premier League Academies. He was picked up by Chelsea as a youth, but the Foxes brought him over to the King Power Stadium in 2023.
He has impressed in the Premier League 2, contributing six goals in his 30 appearances at the level. He also featured against his new suitors in the EFL Trophy last season, playing 78 minutes of the 7-1 victory for Wigan Athletic.
Now, according to Pete O’Rourke, he is about to take the first step into senior football with Wigan in League One.
Youth, energy and talent but can he take the next step?
The 20-year-old is well regarded in the Premier League club’s academy, he has talent in abundance with his ability to get up and down the wing with impressive ease.
His fearless runs at the opposition can cause defenders to back track creating opportunities for the other attackers. Whilst not prolific, he also has a knack of popping up with a goal at vital times.

However, it is a huge risk for Wigan Athletic as to whether the player can translate his attacking prowess to the senior game.
Playing against other youth defenders, who may not have the experience to deal with his attacks, coming up against the likes of Sean Raggett, Christoph Klarer, Paudie O’Connor as centre backs or full backs like Joe Rafferty, it presents a completely different level of opposition who will take any opportunity to take the ball and spring a counter.
