Leeds United have appointed two new board members.

Andrew Schwartzberg, part of the majority ownership group of the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets, has joined as vice chairman.

Eugene Schneur has also been appointed to the board, joining chairman Paraag Marathe, chief executive Angus Kinnear and Peter Lowry.

The pair are part of 49ers Enterprises, the investment firm affiliated with the San Francisco 49ers American football team, which completed a takeover of Leeds last year.

A Leeds United spokesperson said: “Welcoming Andrew and Gene to the Leeds United Board is an exciting moment for the club. They are experts in running successful businesses and will bring unique perspectives on how to run Leeds United.

“There is full confidence that they will be valued members of the club and community, and provide additional momentum as the journey back to the Premier League continues.”
