Everton are taking further steps as they look to convince Jarrad Branthwaite to stay at the club.

Branthwaite is the subject of strong interest from Manchester United, who have had two bids for the defender turned down.

United had an initial offer of £35million plus £8million in add-ons for Branthwaite rejected. They subsequently returned with a bid of £45million plus £5m in add-ons, which was also turned down.

Everton have stood firm with their valuation of £70m for Branthwaite, who made his England debut against Bosnia and Herzegovina last month.

Branthwaite had agreed personal terms ahead of a potential move to Old Trafford, which would have seen him earn £160,000-a-week.

According to The Mirror, Everton are prepared to offer Branthwaite a lucrative new contract as they look to keep him at the club.

Branthwaite currently earns around £40,000-a-week but that is set to increase significantly.

United spent £52million to bring in 18-year-old centre-back Leny Yoro.

In addition, Erik ten Hag’s side are also considering a move for Bayern Munich defender Matthijs De Ligt.

Everton have reportedly informed United that further approaches for Branthwaite are not welcome.
