LATEST: How much Chelsea will receive if Crystal Palace sell £70m Marc Guehi as sell-on clause details emerge

The summer transfer window has continued to see Crystal Palace stars linked with an exit, with the latest being defender Marc Guehi.

Guehi, 24, has impressed ever since making the switch to Selhurst Park from Chelsea in 2021, costing a fee of just £18million

During that time, the centre-back has grown into a top prospect with many of his best years at Crystal Palace still ahead of him.

His form under Oliver Glasner saw Gareth Southgate hand Guehi a call-up to the England squad for Euro 2024.

With injury striking Harry Maguire, the star of the Eagles rose to the occasion and helped the Three Lions reach the final of the tournament.

That has, naturally, led to the defender catching the eye of some big teams as the summer transfer window rolls around though.

Crystal Palace set new Marc Guehi transfer price

Guehi has just two years remaining on his deal at Crystal Palace, which adds another dilemma to the club’s decision over his future.

Should an offer come in for the former Chelsea man, then it could lead to a potential exit over the summer transfer window.

However, according to a report from The Times, the current price set by Palace is in the range of £70million.

Manchester United have been linked with a move for Guehi, while Liverpool and Arsenal have also shown interest.

Chelsea’s Marc Guehi sell-on clause

The same report from The Times claims that Chelsea have a sell-on clause in the deal for Guehi that will see them bank 20 percent of any profit made on a transfer.

Should Palace sell the defender for £70million this summer, that would return a profit of £52million for the Eagles on his original signing fee.

The clause for Chelsea would mean they take just over £10million of the transfer for themselves, leaving the Eagles with the remaining £60million.

Crystal Palace transfer conundrum

The issue for Dougie Freedman this summer is that he could face the prospect of losing several of the squad’s key stars at once.

Michael Olise has already made the £50.8million move to Bayern Munich in the window, coming as a blow to the side.

Eberechi Eze has been linked with an exit from Crystal Palace, following his own impressive performances for the side.

Then there’s Guehi, who is nearing the end of his contract and faces a decision over staying or leaving in the months and years ahead.

Replacing several of those stars, should they leave, will be tough and creates a huge decision to be made over incomings and outgoings.

Crystal Palace seem to have their third signing of the summer already in place, as he features in a friendly for the Eagles against Bournemouth.

After making two quick moves to open up the transfer window, Crystal Palace have had a quiet few weeks as the Eagles return to pre-season.

Chadi Riad and Daichi Kamada are both already confirmed to have joined the club and are settling in well alongside their new teammates.

Dougie Freedman is likely busy at the moment, searching for the perfect replacement for Michael Olise after he departed for Bayern Munich.

Now, the third arrival of the summer appears to be inevitable as he takes part in a pre-season friendly for Oliver Glasner’s team.
