BREAKING: Former Seattle Seahawks’ star Jamal Adams signs with the Tennessee Titans

Nearly 13 months have passed since Adams limped off the field with another major injury, the worst one yet during his tenure with the Seahawks that’s so far been defined by injuries. But Adams is back. The ball of energy that’s spent a year watching is set to make his return on Monday night when the Seahawks play at the New York Giants. (AP Photo/Stephen Brashear, File)AP
Jamal Adams is looking to revive his career.
The former All-Pro safety, who has been plagued by injuries in recent seasons, signed a one-year deal with the Tennessee Titans, the team announced Friday. Adams’ one-year contract is worth $1.125 million in salary, with a signing bonus of $167,000, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.
The contract represents a steep decline for Adams, signed a four-year, $72 million contract extension with the Seattle Seahawks in 2021. Adams was coming off his first season with the Seahawks and was selected to the Pro Bowl.
Adams, 28, has dealt with a variety of injuries since that big season. The injuries (shoulder, knee, quadriceps and finger) limited Adams to just 22 out of 51 games during the past three seasons. He played in just one game in 2022 and nine before he was shut down with knee issues in 2023. He said a torn quadriceps injury in the first game of the 2022 season sent him to a dark place where he considered retirement. He did play in nine games before a knee injury shelved him in 2023, his last with the Seahawks, who released him in March.
A three-time Pro Bowler and an All-Pro in 2019, Adams posted 83 total tackles and 9.5 sacks – an NFL record for a safety – showing that, when healthy, he can be a game-changing force. Now, he’ll get a chance to show he is capable of being that guy once again.
