LATEST NEWS: Leeds Statement On Their Star Rasmus Kristensen

Leeds United may have no choice but to reintegrate Rasmus Kristensen into the squad this season after his loan stint away from Elland Road in 23/24.

Daniel Farke’s pre-season squad is going to grow from hereon after a lot of housekeeping transfers to let fringe players leave the club, as internationals should be due back soon.

Along with those are the handful of players that were out on loan last season that haven’t yet sorted their futures out.

Leeds right-back Rasmus Kristensen short of offers so far

A LeedsLive report grouped together Max Wöber and Rasmus Kristensen on the basis of their lack of resolution in the transfer market this week, yet to see concrete offers from other clubs.

For Kristensen, he is due back at Thorp Arch this month after his time with Roma, followed by being an unused sub in Denmark’s Euro 2024 campaign.

The Whites are yet to decide on the Dane’s whereabouts for next season as interest is yet to materialise from anyone to take him off their hands.

Last summer, Kristensen was believed to have initially indicated that he was going to stay at the club after relegation, before an offer in the Italian capital promptly changed his mind.

Double update means Leeds might have to bring back Kristensen

Not only do Leeds stand little chance of recouping enough of the £10million fee they paid for Kristensen to avoid a PSR sting, but there’s more reason for Farke to reinstate the right-back in his squad.

There’s a growing sense of frustration amongst Leeds fans at the moment, as is perennially the case in transfer season, that moves aren’t coming as fast as they’d like.

With that, the clearing out of defensive players leaves Leeds with little depth to play with currently – Sam Byram and Junior Firpo (injury prone) being the only senior full-backs.

Therefore, given that Kristensen has no offers and Leeds have no full-back depth, it might make sense to reintegrate him as soon as he’s back from extended leave.

He isn’t popular at Leeds, because he jumped ship when we could have done with him, and he wasn’t good enough in the Premier League – but many players drop down to the EFL and hit the ground running, Firpo being a prime example.

It’s a ‘hear me out’ transfer decision for the club to make on Kristensen, but he could easily work in the Championship when he’s tasked less with defending and not coming up against elite wingers most weeks.
