GOOD NEWS: Birmingham City Lead League One Promotion Hopefuls in Race For Former Hearts Midfielder
Birmingham City and Huddersfield Town will both be competing in League One next season, having been relegated from the Championship.
This summer however, they have also been competing off the pitch for players, with the Blues poaching star striker Alfie May from under the Terriers’ nose.
Chris Davies side have added the likes of Emil Hansson and Bailey Peacock-Farrell this summer and are in the hunt for more with a reported £20 million budget.
Huddersfield on the other hand have also been busy, capturing Lincoln City’s stand out player Lasse Sorensen, Herbie Kane from Barnsley and Anthony Evans from Bristol Rovers amongst others.
Now their attention turns to other targets, with another of League One’s stand out stars now in the sights of the promotion hopefuls.
Birmingham City now reportedly lead the race against Huddersfield Town, Barnsley, Oxford United and Wrexham for talented Premier League midfielder Marc Leonard.

Birmingham City Hoovering Up the League One Talent
The three relegated sides, Birmingham City, Huddersfield Town and Rotherham United are all seemingly determined to ensure their stay in League One is a short one. All three have been snapping up the best talent the league has to offer.
They are also seemingly not done there either, with Birmingham battling Championship clubs for Peterborough United Harrison Burrows.
The third-tier teams that failed to get promotion last season have had some difficulty keeping hold of their stars with the bigger budgets simply making it difficult to say no.
This approach should stand them in good stead for the league, however there are only two automatic spots, meaning they could be set for a battle to get out the league or find themselves faced with a spot in the lottery that is the play-offs.
Whilst the top teams have been securing the top talent for big money however, the teams around them have been putting their money to use. Doing as they often usually do and strengthening the team as a whole by find and securing assets from League Two who may cost much less.
