LATEST NEWS: Nottingham Forest About To Loose Another Player To EPL Club
In a recent report, The Athletic claimed that Newcastle United are keen on recruiting Nottingham Forest ace Anthony Elanga this summer. It has been stated that the Magpies are eager to acquire the services of the Swedish wide player.
Elanga’s Impressive Form At The City Ground
Elanga enjoyed a decent campaign at the Midlands club after he put in a series of productive displays for them in the final third. The 22-year-old scored five times and picked up nine assists in 39 matches for Nottingham last season in multiple competitions.
The Swedish talent has been a rock at the back based on his average of 1.5 shots, 0.9 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He was even careful when distributing the ball from inside his half after making 75.3% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Nottingham will run out in the summer of 2028 which could make it tough for Newcastle to sign him on a cut-price deal in this summer transfer period.
Should Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe Snap Elanga Up?
Elanga is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some dangerous runs with the ball out in the wide areas. He can strike the ball with power from long range and has got the vision to make a few decent plays for others around him in the opponent’s half.
The Swedish sensation can chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals for his team. He is primarily a right-sided wide player but can also operate as a left-winger or as a centre-forward if asked to do so by his manager.
We can expect Elanga to bring more pace and goals to Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe’s attack. He is good enough to fight for a regular first-team spot at St. James’ Park in the coming years.
At 22, Elanga has the potential to be a world-class player in his position someday as long as he continues to get better with each year. Thus, it makes sense for the Tyneside club to try everything they can to snap him up before the end of this summer transfer window.
