LATEST: Good News For Forest As Another Star Landed The Club On A deal

Goalkeeper Carlos Miguel’s move to Nottingham Forest from Corinthians has been confirmed.

The Brazilian has become the Reds’ fourth signing of the summer transfer window by putting pen to paper on a four-year deal, pending a work permit. He follows Marko Stamenic, Eric da Silva Moreira and Elliot Anderson in putting pen to paper at the City Ground, with Stamenic set to spend the season on loan at Olympiacos.

Forest triggered a €4million (£3.4m) release clause in Miguel’s contract to secure the 25-year-old’s signature. He flew over from his homeland last weekend to undergo a medical and now links up with Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad as preparations for the 2024/25 Premier League campaign step up.

Chief football officer Ross Wilson said of the club’s latest addition: “Carlos has arrived in Nottingham full of excitement following his performances in Brazil with Corinthians. He concluded all of the formalities yesterday and we are pleased that he will join the squad so early on in pre-season.”

Miguel’s move sees him reunited with former Corinthians teammate Murillo. The defender made the same switch 12 months ago and has said he recommended his old colleague to the Reds last winter.

“I heard a few things that Nottingham were interested and I also spoke a lot about him to the people at Nottingham,” Murillo recently said. “I spoke to my coach, a lot of things… It was when Cassio (Miguel) was still here (at Corinthians).

He did not make a first-team appearance for Internacional and only managed eight for Boa. The 6ft 8in shot-stopper then moved to Corinthians in 2021, but had to wait a year to make his debut for the club.

His arrival Trentside continues Forest’s reshuffle of their goalkeeping department. Odysseas Vlachodimos has already left for Newcastle United and Matt Turner could also depart as neither impressed after signing last summer.

Miguel will provide competition for Matz Sels for the No.1 spot. However, the Reds could yet bring in another keeper before the window closes on August 30.
