Ipswich Town and Southampton are both in talks to sign Man City striker Liam Delap, sources have told Football Insider.

The Saints had been leading the race to secure his signature, but they have been unable to secure an agreement with the defending Premier League champions.

That’s opened the door for the Tractor Boys, and the newly promoted side are now stepping up their interest in Delap.

Sources say that Ipswich are prioritising the signing of a striker in the remainder of the window, and Delap has caught their attention.

Ipswich could reunite Delap with former teammates

Should Delap sign for the Tractor Boys this summer, there’s a chance he could reunite with two of his former teammates.

Ipswich are in the midst of signing blizzard as they prepare for life in the top flight, and two players they are pushing to sign are Jacob Greaves and Jaden Philogene.

Football Insider revealed that Ipswich are close to signing the duo from Hull City, which is where Delap spent last season on loan from Man City.

Delap has only had limited opportunities to play for Man City throughout his career, having only played six times for the first team.

He showcased his potential last season at Hull City, scoring eight goals and providing two assists in 32 appearances for the club.
