REPORT; Birmingham City And Luton Town Target In Premier League Interest Decleared

With the young attacker looking to get more exposure to first-team football, it’s expected that Spurs will allow him to leave on loan this summer. League One Birmingham City and Championship Luton Town are two teams interested in the forward.

What do we know about the interest in Donley?

Netsport.uk confirmed that Luton Town are ‘extremely keen’ to offer Donley a chance to experience regular first-team football.

They also confirmed that Birmingham City are keeping tabs on the young striker.

The Blues are managed by former Spurs coach Chris Davies, who’ll know a thing or two about the attacker, having seen him in action last season.

These two aren’t the only teams interested in Donley. netsport.uk confirmed that Oxford United are also keen on signing Donley as they prepare for their return to the second tier of English football.

What do we know about Donley the player?

Donley is highly regarded within Spurs and has been compared to Harry Kane.

For this reason, Ange is believed to be keen to see Donley be loaned out to get more first-team minutes with the view to being a starter for Spurs in the future.

He’s proven he can score goals at the youth levels, scoring 24 goals in 34 U18 Premier League games.

However, the real test will come when he’s up against professionals and more experienced heads.

Donley plays predominately as a striker but can play attacking midfield or on the right. This versatility is likely to be attractive to prospective loan clubs, who can utilise his other positions throughout the season.

What move will be best for Donley? – Opinion

All three teams have their benefits, but Donley has a big decision to make this summer.

Moving to third-tier Birmingham City would offer Donley the chance to go up against potentially  ‘easier’ opposition. His relationship with Davies could make the move more comfortable for the young man.

Despite being relegated from the Premier League last season, there’s no real expectation for Luton to make an immediate return. Donley could thrive in this environment and benefit from working with Rob Edwards.

Oxford United are the other end of the spectrum from the other two sides. However, this sort of experience of grinding results out can be crucial to a player’s development. He could learn a lot at the club.
