LATEST: Newcastle United In Danger Following PSR Problem, See What They Intended Doing

Newcastle United had to act fast to solve their PSR problem on June 30th, but that will not be the end of their outgoing transfer business.

The Magpies would have a points deduction coming their way had they not sold Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson, with both players helping Newcastle United bring in around £68million in transfer fees.

It is sad to see two incredibly talented youngsters leave the club – especially Anderson. He is an academy graduate and a local lad, as well as a player who was expected to enjoy a proper breakthrough season in 2024/25.

But Newcastle had to do something before June 30th, and that meant cashing in on two players who could go on to have very bright futures in the game.

Newcastle United looking to sell Miguel Almiron

Newcastle simply had to sell, and you cannot sell if you do not have a buyer. That is why there was an acceptance that getting a player like Miguel Almiron off the books before June 30th was going to be extremely difficult.

But now the 30-year-old’s situation has changed, and the Magpies might suddenly be in a position in which they can speed up his departure.

The club are willing to listen to offers for Almiron, and value him at £20million. That has been deemed too much by Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq, but there will likely be other suitors in the Middle East.

A deal with a Saudi club feels like Newcastle’s best chance of getting the amount of money they are looking for, and developments on Tuesday night could help the Magpies speed up the situation regarding Almiron’s future.

Copa America adventure over for Miguel Almiron

It seems quite clear that Newcastle want to sell Almiron, but that has not really been possible in recent weeks.

That has been due to Miggy’s international commitments, with the 30-year-old competing at the Copa America for Paraguay.

However, that journey came to an end on Tuesday night, as Paraguay played their final group game of the competition. They were beaten 2-1 by Costa Rica, meaning they lost all three of their games.

Paraguay finished bottom of their group and will now be going home, meaning Almiron’s international commitments are over.

That is a shame for the winger, but it could help Newcastle. Without the distraction of a major tournament, Almiron can turn his attention to his future. He has a big decision to make, as a lot of the interest in him is coming from Saudi Arabia. Alas, he rejected a move there in January.

Now Almiron could have another opportunity to go to Saudi Arabia, but that is something he will have to think about carefully before saying ‘yes’. And he can be forgiven for not wanting to ponder his future too much while he has been representing his country.

But with Paraguay crashing out of the Copa America, perhaps that can help Newcastle in terms of their transfer plans.
