Newcastle closing in on the signing of Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin

According to The Telegraph, Newcastle United are ‘pushing ahead’ with a deal to sign Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Luke Edwards report that the club have been keen on the 27-year-old since the summer of 2021 and are keen to bring in attacking options to compete with Alexander Isak, with Callum Wilson expected to depart.
The piece states that Calvert-Lewin is keen on a move to Tyneside and could ignore any contract offer from Goodison Park in a bid to push through a move to St James’ Park, with Newcastle in ‘pole position’ to seal a deal.
A fee is yet to be agreed, but talks are advancing and it’s believed there is ‘confidence’ a deal will be struck, with Eddie Howe believing the target man would score more goals in his attack-minded Newcastle side after eight last season on Merseyside.
