Middlesbrough set to make Newcastle Drop, talks to begin
According to a rumor from Teesside Live, Middlesbrough will be adding Newcastle United coach Graeme Carrick to their backroom staff. Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick has been in charge since October 2022, so he has had lot of experience working with a reliable coaching staff at the Riverside.
However, as is the case at any club, coaches come and go and fresh additions are made to bolster the ranks behind the manager. That’s been the same for Carrick in his maiden role with Boro.
Now, it seems Middlesbrough are set to make a fresh addition to the backroom team, and it’s someone manager Carrick is more than familiar with.
As reported by Teesside Live, Carrick is set to see his younger brother Graeme join from Newcastle United to join his backroom team.
Boro approached the Magpies for permission to talk to the 39-year-old and that has been granted. As such, a move is expected as the brothers link up at the Riverside Stadium.
Carrick has been with Newcastle United his entire coaching career, working in the academy. He currently serves as their U18s boss and also held a role in the England setup for 15 years from 2007 to 2022 alongside his club duties.
