Why spurs will go for Milenkovic After Euros

Tottenham now want to sign a Serbia international who pocketed Harry Kane in England’s opening match at UEFA EURO 2024 on Sunday.

The Bayern Munich No.9 – who is Tottenham‘s record goalscorer with 280 goals – hardly had a touch against Serbia as an early header from Jude Bellingham secured three points.

Now, Spurs are looking to sign the man who played a huge part in keeping Harry Kane quiet…

Tottenham monitoring Nikola Milenkovic

TBR Football understand that Tottenham are keeping a close eye on Serbia international Nikola Milenkovic.

The Fiorentina No.4 has three years remaining on his contract in Florence – putting the Serie A outfit in a strong negotiating position this summer.

Sources have also informed TBR Football that West Ham are admirers of Milenkovic too, with Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa, Newcastle and Fulham monitoring his situation as well.

TBR Football understand that West Ham have already previously made attempts to sign the Serbian, and could make another move after Angelo Ogbonna departed the London Stadium.

Milenkovic limited Kane to just 24 touches in England’s 1-0 win over Serbia on Sunday, making four clearances and one tackle up against the Tottenham academy graduate, as shown by SofaScore.

The 26-year-old also showed his quality on the ball by completing 76 of his attempted 80 passes, registering a success rate of 95% along with 87 touches.

Serbia international could replace Ange Postecoglou favourite

You may be asking yourself why Spurs would want to sign another central defender – having already snapped up Radu Dragusin in January, a man who made just four Premier League starts since that switch to N17.

Judging by rumours currently floating around, it is entirely possible that Milenkovic is being lined up to replace Cristian Romero.

The Argentina international is said to be a target for Real Madrid – according to ESPN – and while Spurs are adamant they do not want to sell, the lure of the Spanish giants is often too much for players to resist.
