Brighton & Hove Albion are accelerating their search for a new manager following Roberto De Zerbi’s departure, and Steve Cooper has emerged as the leading candidate, according to Mail Sport.

Cooper, previously dismissed by Nottingham Forest in December, is keen to continue his Premier League career, and Brighton offers a promising opportunity.

The Seagulls’ search for De Zerbi’s successor has been comprehensive. Initially, they showed interest in Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna, but McKenna’s recent contract extension with Ipswich until 2028 has ruled him out, prompting Brighton to intensify their focus on Cooper.

While Cooper has also been approached by Championship clubs Burnley and Sheffield United following their relegation, Brighton is currently the favorite to secure his services. Reports suggest Cooper has rejected Burnley’s advances, with Frank Lampard now a leading candidate for the Burnley role.

Brighton’s recent Europa League performance, reaching the last-16 stage before being eliminated by Roma, highlights the club’s potential and the opportunities for any new manager. Cooper’s availability and eagerness to return to management make him a compelling option for Brighton, who are determined to find a manager capable of building on De Zerbi’s achievements and driving the club forward.
