Rangers Head Coach angry and ready to sue VAR and referee.
Philippe Clement expressed his frustration at referee Nick Walsh and VAR after a crucial goal was disallowed during Rangers’ Scottish Cup final against Celtic.
Clement’s team believed they had taken the lead through Abdallah Sima’s goal after an hour of play, but Walsh, following a VAR review, ruled it out due to a push by Nico Raskin on Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart. Clement was incensed by this decision, particularly because an earlier push by Celtic’s Liam Scales on Dujon Sterling went unpunished.
He argued that the inconsistency in officiating was unfair and that if Sima’s goal had stood, Rangers would likely have won the cup.
The game ultimately ended in disappointment for Rangers as Celtic’s Adam Idah scored in the 90th minute, capitalizing on a mistake by Rangers’ goalkeeper Jack Butland, securing a victory for Celtic.
Clement’s frustration was evident in his post-match comments, where he highlighted the disallowed goal and the perceived discrepancy in refereeing decisions, noting the more significant push by Scales that was not penalized compared to the incident involving Hart.
