It is clear that Spurs are planning to majorly overhaul their squad this summer as they aim to put together a side better equipped to compete with the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal next season.
Ange Postecoglou himself admitted as much last week, explaining that some tough decisions will have to be made, with the club needing to sell some good players and replace them with others who are better suited to his system
It was reported by The Telegraph last week that Richarlison could be one of the players sacrificed this summer while Graeme Bailey told Netsport a couple of days ago that the 26-year-old is attracting interest from Saudi Arabia
Tottenham could make their money back on Richarlison
This has now been backed up by The Athletic, who say that there is ‘serious interest’ from the Saudi Pro League in the Tottenham star.
The report discusses the Lilywhites’ dilemma with respect to Richarlison, pointing out that he is the only recognised number nine in the squad but suggesting that he is also one of their most ‘marketable assets’ ahead of the summer window.
The publication claims that a potential sale of the Brazilian to the Middle East could see Spurs make back the money they paid Everton for the striker two years ago.
Spurs Web Opinion
If Saudi clubs are willing to bid £60m for Richarlison, that would certainly give Tottenham a lot to think about as the North London side could use those funds to sign Ivan Toney, who would undoubtedly be an upgrade over the former Everton man.
However, I would be extremely surprised if Postecoglou gave the green light for Richarlison to be sold. With Spurs back in Europe next season, the Aussie coach will want a lot more options and would likely want to keep the Brazil international around as a squad player.
