Spurs insider confirms the club are admirers of Eberechi Eze
Paul O’Keefe, who regularly breaks news on the developments at Hotspur Way, has revealed that Tottenham will not find it easy to sign Eberechi Eze this summer as the Crystal Palace star’s release clause is quite complicated.
While Eze had had another injury-hit season, the attacking midfielder has been sensational for the Eagles when he has played and he is unsurprisingly now being backed to make a big move this summer.
A couple of days ago, Football Transfers explained that the 25-year-old’s family have been invited as special guests to the North London Derby on Sunday against Arsenal on Sunday as Tottenham step up their pursuit of the player.
The report stated that while Manchester City are also keen on Eze, Spurs have an advantage over Pep Guaridola’s men since the midfielder prefers to remain in London owing to his family ties.
The publication added that while the Palace star is willing to move to Tottenham, it would take an offer of around €64m (£55m) to poach him from Selhurst Park this summer.
Eze deal will prove complicated for Tottenham
O’Keefe has now revealed on social media that Tottenham are not Eze’s only admirer and that the player’s release clause is quite complex.
He explained that apart from other conditions, the England international’s former club, QPR, are also due a percentage of any fee that Palace receive for the midfielder.
Even if the conditions of the release clause are complicated, one would assume that the mere existence of a release clause would make the deal easier as there is no need to negotiate with Palace. The only reason Spurs might have doubts about paying around £60m for Eze is due to the 25-year-old’s fitness record.
