Man City XI vs Luton: Confirmed team news, predicted lineup

Published

Phil Foden may miss out as Manchester City host Luton on Saturday, as they look to apply pressure on title-chasers Arsenal and Liverpool.

The 23-year-old limped off during City’s dramatic 3-3 draw against Real Madrid on Tuesday.

Pep Guardiola confirmed the injury was not serious.

“It’s a knock,” he said. “He was grumpy with me, asking why I made the substitution so that means he’s okay.”

Nevertheless, Guardiola is expected to make a string of changes from their last outing, with City welcoming Madrid to the Etihad on Wednesday for their Champions League quarter-final second leg,

Kevin De Bruyne should return to the lineup. He missed the midweek clash after vomiting in the Bernabeu locker room.

City have lost all four domestic games without Rodri this season, but Guardiola may opt to rest the midfielder.

“I do need a rest,” said the Spain international on Wednesday. “I need to adjust. It [rest] is something we are planning, yes.”

Kyle Walker and Nathan Ake are out with hamstring and calf injuries respectively.

Manchester City predicted XI: Ortega, Lewis, Stones, Dias, Gvardiol, Kovacic, De Bruyne, Bobb, Doku, Alvarez, Haaland

Injured: Kyle Walker, Nathan Ake

Doubts: Phil Foden

Time and date: 3pm BST on Saturday, April 13, 2024
