Noel Gallagher makes Celtic title tip as Oasis icon ditches Rangers ‘driving seat’ theory
Oasis superstar Noel Gallagher has declared Celtic will lift the title after being put on the spot by Rangers hero Ally McCoist.
It was an Old Firm classic on Sunday as Rabbi Matondo’s stunning strike rescue Philippe Clement’s side in injury-time to make it 3-3 and keep the different at the top of the Scottish Premiership at just a point – with the Light Blues having the chance to move top of the table again if they face off against Dundee. However, Brendan Rodgers’ will be confident of lifting the silverware with the Glasgow giants set to clash again at Celtic Park before the curtain comes down on a thrilling title fight.
It looks set to go to the wire – but Gallagher has made his prediction and packed the Hoops to triumph. Having been drafted on to the talkSPORT Breakfast Show to discuss Manchester City’s Champions League quarter-final thriller against Real Madrid, McCoist couldn’t resist putting the singer on the spot. He quizzed: “We can’t let you go without the big one Noel, who will win the league in Scotland?”
Gallagher responded: “What a game that was. Rangers had equalised and Celtic go up the other end and score – I thought that was it. But now Rangers are in the driving seat because if they win the game in hand they are ahead. But, you can’t call it…”
Celtic diehard Alan Brazil wouldn’t let the ‘Wonderwall’ singer off the hook as he referenced the final derby clash of the season between the two. He fired back: “Well, you can. 60,000 at Parkhead – you can call it…”
Gallagher conceded: “Well, yeah. I have got to say the Bhoys will do it, yeah.” Defeated McCoist rounded up: “You have let the side down there, Noel.”
