Hot News; Jamie Carragher Appreciate £35m Tottenham player this season

The north London club have hit some serious highs, but they have also had some sorry times too.

Spurs’ last two games highlight just that, the recent 3-0 loss against Fulham was a serious dip, but, just one week before, they were beating Aston Villa 4-0.

Almost every single one of Tottenham’s key players has been inconsistent this season, but there is one player who has been fantastic almost every single time he’s played.

Micky Van de Ven has been fantastic

Speaking on The Overlap, Jamie Carragher has been discussing Tottenham’s season so far, and he’s reserved some special praise for Micky Van de Ven.

The pundit says that Tottenham’s back four have all been very good individually, claiming that Van de Ven always looks fantastic.

“You say that style and we talk about the full-backs and people moving about, but if you talk about your back four. Destiny Udogie has done well at left-back, Porro has done well at right-back, Van de Ven has had his injury problems, but he’s always, everyone says he’s looked fantastic, individually you have a really good back four,” Carragher said.

Micky Van de Ven may be Tottenham’s most important player

The £35m man may not be the most talented player at Tottenham, but he could well be the most important player at Spurs right now.

Tottenham’s backline lives and dies by its high line, and they can only effectively play that style with someone as fast as Van De Ven in the team.

There’s a reason Owen Hargreaves stated that Tottenham are a different team with Van de Ven on the pitch after his recent absence.

“I think when Van de Ven is on there they’re a completely different side. Maybe they could be a bit more aggressive. I think they lack a bit of experience maybe, a young team, Bissouma, Sarr and Maddison are amazing young players,” Hargreaves said.

Tottenham need to figure out how to work without Van de Ven, because a player with so much pace playing in such an intense system will be bound to pick up a few injuries along the way.
