Nottingham Forest make Final decision On 21 years Star
It has been a difficult past couple of weeks for Forest as they now find themselves in the relegation zone during the international break.
Forest brought in Divock Origi last summer on a season-long loan deal from AC Milan, however, it is not a move which has lit up the City Ground.
Will Nottingham Forest sign Divock Origi
According to reports out of Italy, the Belgian striker will not be making the move to Nottingham in the summer on a permanent basis.
It is believed Forest have the option to make Origi a permanent member of their squad this summer, but it now looks like Milan will assess interest from America.
Origi has not had the return to the Premier League he would have hoped for having played just 467 minutes of action in the league.
And the 28-year-old has been unable to find the back of the net in any of his 15 Premier League appearances.
What Nuno has said about Divock Origi
Nuno Espirito Santo has not exactly had an easy ride since he made the move back to the Premier League to join Forest.
The club now face a very real threat of relegation following their four-point deduction as a result of their PSR issues.
But there is still plenty of football to be played and they return to action with a game against Crystal Palace.
One player who could do with an upturn in form is the Belgian striker, but Nuno has admitted he does feel the 28-year-old is improving.
Ahead of the Liverpool defeat, he said: “I still haven’t decided who is going to play but I can tell you Divock is improving.
“He has been in and out, some small issues which has been delaying his progress. But in the first half (against Manchester United) he was amazing and for us, he is a solution because he can play right, left side and in the centre. So we need the best version of Divock.”
Origi did start that game against his former side, but he was hooked off after just 65 minutes at the City Ground.
There is still a chance Origi could provide Forest with some seriously important moments as they battle the drop, but his form since joining has left a lot to be desired.
Considering the return Chris Wood has provided this season, and Forest’s financial concerns, Origi would potentially only add an unnecessary burden on the wage bill.
