Jamie Vardy point made as Leicester City prepare for Chelsea
Leicester City’s James Justin doesn’t feel there is any need for alarm bells after the club’s 2-2 draw against Hull City last weekend – if anything, he is looking at the positives.
City fought back twice in the game at the MKM Stadium to ensure a hard-earned point in the battle for promotion.
With the Championship games coming thick and fast, there aren’t many fixtures left on the schedule with the promotion race entering the final stages
Hull City are no easy team to beat with themselves chasing an outside chance of promotion via the play-offs. Speaking about the Hull game and the weeks ahead, Justin feels it was a point won rather than two lost.
Speaking after the game, he said: “I feel like it was a tightly contested game. It’s tough when we’re fighting and losing points but all we can do is move to the next game.
“Sometimes it’s difficult when you’re in the heat of the moment. We’ve just got to keep going with our plan. Some of the challenges flying in, which you know you’re going to get at this level, and you’ve got to be prepared for that.
“And for that, we battled really well under the circumstances, and we’ll walk away with a point. A draw is not the worst thing for us in the end.
“Hull were a great side. We knew it was going to be a difficult match, they play in a good way and a good style of play with a good manager. They’re a team who has been in great form, and they’re making a strong case for a play-off spot.
“Coming here away at this point in the season is difficult because everyone’s fighting for these little things. It’s something that we haven’t been able to do as much this season, so it shows we’ve got something about us.
“We’re really disappointed in there that we didn’t find the winner, but at the end of the day, we look at it as a point gained.”
Justin paid tribute to two goal Jamie Vardy, still proving at the age of 37 that he has plenty to offer the club, especially at this stage of the season.
The former England striker has now notched up 15 goals this season, proving that even if the legs may be slowing up slightly, the striker’s instinct most certainly isn’t.
Justin commented: “You know what you’re going to get (from Vardy). Even at his young age, I feel like he’s still got bags and bags of ability and talent.
“He’s still got pace as well, so he knows how to score a goal. And that’s why he’s on top.
“We move on to next weekend, go back to the drawing board and get ready for the FA Cup. And then after the international break, we’ll come back firing. We’ve done a lot of travelling now over the last week with two difficult away trips and it will be nice to get a week to recover.”
