‘Nervous’ – Alan Brazil responds to Gabby Agbonlahor Rangers title verdict in Celtic admission
Rangers have the advantage over Celtic in the Scottish Premiership title race but the remaining Old Firm derby clashes will be decisive, according to Alan Brazil.
Philippe Clement’s side currently sit two points clear of the Hoops at the top of the Premiership table but missed the opportunity to extend their lead to five points as they were beaten by Motherwell at Ibrox.
While Brazil has slammed officials for the Hoops’ recent poor form, Gabby Agbonlahor has admitted he has been shocked by both Old Firm teams’ recent form and suggested Celtic fans should be getting nervous.
Speaking on talkSPORT on Thursday (7 March, 7:26) he said: “I keep looking at the scores and I’m like Rangers will win that and Celtic will win that and they keep losing. What’s going on? You used to turn on the scores and Celtic would have won 6-0, 5-0, 4-0.
“Now, those teams are catching up, the Kilmarnocks, the Motherwells. You’re nervous aren’t you about this season?”
Brazil quickly replied saying: “It’s called referees and officials that’s what it’s called. There are two more Old Firm games to come and that’s what will settle it. But it is advantage Rangers.”
Will Rangers have enough to beat Celtic to the Scottish Premiership title?
The title race in Celtic hangs in the balance currently, with Rangers and Celtic almost neck and neck after 29 games of the season and that means that it will only take one or two big results for the entire league to flip on its head.
Clement’s side may have the advantage currently, but they could have lost that following their defeat to Motherwell had Celtic managed to claim all three points at Tynecastle as Hearts ran out 2-0 winners.
This race will go right down to the wire as both teams will almost certainly drop points between now and the end of the season, Rangers just have to try and ensure that they better Brendan Rodgers’ side’s results week in and week out.
Hopefully, Clement’s team can get back to winning ways in their Europa League showdown with Benfica on Thursday (7 March) before they make the trip to Easter Road to face Hibernian in the Scottish Cup on Sunday (10 March).
