Interesting; What  Could Really Make Ross Wilson do Such at Forest

Wilson came in for some rather unfair criticism during certain periods of the summer when transfers weren’t forthcoming.

Now, Bailey has lifted the lid on the role that Wilson actually plays behind the scenes at Forest.

Graeme Bailey shares what Ross Wilson does at Nottingham Forest

Well, it’s a question that was often asked among the fan base when Wilson first replaced Giraldi last year.

Forest supporters became somewhat annoyed with Wilson in the summer – with the club’s transfer business proving rather slow.

Things did pick up towards the end of the window and the club ended up signing 13 new players during the summer.

Now, HITC insider Graeme Bailey has told Nottingham Forest News that from what he is hearing, Wilson is heavily involved at the City Ground.

Bailey said: “He’s a fantastic operator is Ross. No offence to Forest but he ran things at Rangers to a very high level and he built that squad up there. He is a top operator, he really is, we have seen the work he did at Southampton as well.

“He’s more than capable of managing all aspects of Forest and my belief is that he’s involved in all aspects behind the scenes. His knowledge of the world game is spectacular and he knows his stuff.

“I think when you look at a lot of the business Forest have done and the players they’ve managed to bring in – of which Ross will have played a part – it’s been impressive.

“From my understanding, Ross is involved in all aspects of the club. He’s football mad and he will be very much involved in the football side of things.”

Forest fans need to cut Sporting Director some slack

Bailey is right. In large Forest did a lot of decent business during the summer transfer window and it seems Wilson was heavily involved.

Ibrahim Sangare, Anthony Elanga, Nicolas Dominguez and Murillo have all enjoyed good moments this season; with Nuno Espirito Santo getting a tune out of Gonzalo Montiel, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Nuno Tavares.

Of course, the signings of Matt Turner, Odysseas Vlachodimos and Andrey Santos haven’t worked out, but there isn’t a club in the world that gets them all right!

From the sounds of it, Forest should count themselves lucky to have a sporting director with as much expertise as Wilson.

He is still relatively new to his City Ground role and given time to do the job, Forest could look like a much better football club due to his input.
