Halliday shares fresh Rangers team prediction for Kilmarnock clash

Rangers manager Philippe Clement is guaranteed to start Fabio Silva ahead of Cyriel Dessers for the Premiership clash with Kilmarnock, according to Andy Halliday.

The Light Blues make the trip to Rugby Park on Wednesday (28 February) looking to extend their lead over Celtic at the top of the table having thrashed Hearts 5-0 last time out at Ibrox.

Dessers picked up an impressive brace in the win over Steven Naismith’s side, but Halliday is certain that Clement will continue to rotate his strike force and start Wolves loanee Fabio Silva ahead of the Nigerian forward.

Speaking on the Open Goal YouTube channel (27 February, 33:55) he said: “They’re making four five changes a game and it’s not making a difference. Whoever is coming in is playing well and performing.

“Dessers scored two (against Hearts), I guarantee Fabio Silva starts on Wednesday because it happened last week and the week before. One of them plays and scores then the next guy comes in plays and scores.”

Will Cyriel Dessers start for Rangers against Kilmarnock?

Rangers will know that they have got a tough test on their hands on Wednesday night as Derek McInnes’ side have impressed in recent weeks as they have managed to take points off the likes of Aberdeen and Celtic to sit fourth in the table.

But Clement is unlikely to stray too far from the system that has worked for him throughout the season so far and the Belgian has not been afraid to make several changes to his starting XI week in and week out at Ibrox.

Philippe Clement has not been afraid to mix up his Rangers line-ups.

Dessers was excellent against Hearts as he continues to find his feet in the Scottish game and while he looks better with each passing week at Ibrox, that doesn’t mean that he will be guaranteed to start against Kilmarnock.

Hopefully, no matter who starts at Rugby Park, the Light Blues will be able to pick up all three points and continue their impressive run under the Belgian’s management, but Silva has some big shoes to fill at the top end of the pitch.
