Butland breaks Rangers transfer silence
Jack Butland has broken his silence on January transfer interest in his services – insisting it was a “straight no”.
The Rangers goalkeeper, 30, has been sensational this season so far having been brought to the club by former boss Michael Beale on a free transfer. Ex-Stoke and Manchester United stopper Butland was wanted in the winter window by Nottingham Forest in the Premier League who were targeting a new goalie for manager Nuno Espirito Santo and they swooped for Butland with an enquiry to the Ibrox club.
Gers said no themselves but when Butland was made aware of the approach by his agent, there was only ever going to be one response.
“It was a straight no. My agent said ‘This is happening, what do you want to do?’” Butland explained.
“I said ‘No’ and he said ‘I agree’. The club had said no anyway so it was just a no on all fronts from the get-go – and that was that. We were actually with the team, I think it was deadline day. We were all out altogether at a team event and that was that. There wasn’t even a chance.
“I’m enjoying it. There is too much to achieve, there is too much left to do.”
