Eddie Howe now thinks £25m Newcastle player is going to be even better
Newcastle United are set to welcome a key player back from injury, and someone who could now be even better than before.
Alexander Isak is fit again after his groin problem, and his return to fitness has coincided with Joe Willock getting over his Achilles issue.
It has been an extremely frustrating season for the Newcastle United midfielder. He has been limited to just six appearances so far, during what was meant to be a great season for the 24-year-old.
But Willock has been crippled with injury setbacks, forcing Eddie Howe to be without one of his most important players.
However, the £25million man is back now, and Howe believes that Willock might actually be a better player suddenly due to his experience this season.
Eddie Howe thinks Joe Willock is now more ‘mature’
Ahead of Newcastle’s game against Arsenal, Howe has spoke to the media. He has been discussing Willock’s mentality during his injury absence.
“I think he’s handled himself really well,” he said.
“I think we’ve seen him mature, even in the last few months where he’s had to show a different side of his character to come through this period. As long as he comes back in full health, I think we’ll see a better Joe Willock for that experience.”
Newcastle United fans will be buzzing to see Willock back from injury
If Willock has developed into a better player then Newcastle United fans are in for a treat. He was outstanding last season, and produced some absolutely incredible moments. Supporters will never forget that assist against Tottenham, while he got a decisive winner against Chelsea too.
Willock is probably the Magpies’ unsung hero, but he has been a big miss this season. We have struggled at times without his athleticism, but now he is back.
That is a massive boost for Howe, and it will also delight Willock. It has been a frustrating campaign for the midfielder, but Howe believes he is coming out the other side a better player.
Hopefully that proves to be the case, as Willock prepares to complete his comeback and put this injury behind him.
