Finance Expert reacts as new future transfer already agreed at Rangers

Dan Plumley has insisted that was sensible of Rangers to park the idea of signing Fluminense left-back Jefte in January, in favour of a summer move.

Fabrizio Romano shared on Deadline Day that the Gers had secured a verbal agreement to sign the South American defender once the season is over.

The football finance expert admitted that the deal looks to be on good terms for all parties, with Philippe Clement not exactly desperate for a new left-back at this stage of the season at Ibrox.

“We have looked at the example of the benefit of the Brazilian market being open and the things you can do with that,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.

“Here, you have the counter-argument, in terms of the way the transfer market can work against you and when you’ve got those connected parties between players and clubs and whether or not you’re looking at buying now and loans, you need everyone to play ball with that.

“If one particular party is not willing to do that then sometimes for all that added cost and hassle, and the intense amount of work that has to go into a transfer, especially in mid-season, when you factor all of that in and there is a deal to be done in the summer which looks to be on good terms, and you’re not desperate, this is a sensible decision to park this one for now.”

New Rangers transfer on way at Ibrox

With Jefte currently on loan in Cyprus at APOEL Nicosia, it would have been double the price to sign him in the past winter window.

James Bisgrove and John Bennett will have been happy to wait, no doubt, and Clement is paying them back for the money they did spend, claiming top spot in the Scottish Premiership over the weekend.
