Keown speculates Rangers set to have one hand on title today
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers could leave the club in the summer, if not before, as Rangers are set to have one hand on the league title.
That is according to journalist Gary Keown, who believes the writing is on the wall for the Celtic Park boss after their draw against Kilmarnock.
The Gers take on the Saints away from home on Sunday (18 February), with Celtic having drawn 1-1 at home to Kilmarnock on Saturday (17 February).
“Their calls for the Lawells (Peter & Mark) and the board to go will intensify now too,” Keown wrote for the Scottish Mail on Sunday (page 99, 18 February). “They’ll probably turn on Rodgers as well, who must surely leave in summer, if not before.
“Rodgers is in the wrong movie and his career is swinging in the wind. Beat St Johnstone today and Rangers will have one hand on the title.”
Rangers in the driving seat?
In a remarkable turn of events in the Scottish Premiership, it looks like the Gers are now in the driving seat for the league title.
That was an unthinkable situation once upon a time this season, with the Bhoys having been looking good under Rodgers and the Gers having been struggling under Michael Beale.
But Philippe Clement has come to Ibrox and has turned things around dramatically, with his side now keen to go top of the league standings for the very first time this season.
The Belgian has done a superb job in his brief time in Scotland so far, getting his club into the knockout stages of the Europa League, the latter stages of the Scottish Cup and helping them lift the League Cup.
But all eyes are now firmly fixed on the exciting title race currently at play, with Celtic slipping up massively at home to Kilmarnock.
