‘One of the best’ – Philippe Clement blown away by exit

Philippe Clement took his time to single out Jack Butland ahead of the Rangers v St Johnstone clash on Sunday, 18 February.

Speaking to the media ahead of the game at McDiarmid Park on Friday, 16 February, the Belgian lauded his goalkeeper’s leadership in the dressing room as well.

Butland moved to Ibrox in the summer on a free transfer and has arguably been the most consistent player this season.

Via the club’s official Twitter handle, Clement said: “Jack (Butland) is one of the best goalkeepers I have ever been with, both as a player and manager. He is a top goalkeeper and a top personality, a leader in the dressing room.

Butland has been sensational for Rangers

Rangers would have made a massive profit on the sale of the Englishman had they played ball amid Nottingham Forest’s interest.

However, Gers were quick to send a warning to the Premier League side and anyone else looking to secure the 30-year-old’s services in January.

Signing Butland was undoubtedly a coup for the club and even if a few millions had been spent it would’ve still been a good deal.

Butland’s consistent performances throughout the season have been crucial for Rangers, showcasing his shot-stopping ability and leadership qualities both on and off the pitch.

Securing his services not only strengthened the squad but also signalled their ambition to compete at the highest level.

As Clement rightly highlighted, Butland’s impact extends beyond his goalkeeping skills, with his leadership qualities proving invaluable in the dressing room.

For Rangers, retaining Butland’s services for the long term would be ideal, providing stability in a key position and ensuring continuity in their quest for success.
