Man City target move for 17-year-old wonderkid with 29 Championship

Manchester City could face competition from the likes of Liverpool and Newcastle United as they eye a move for Leeds United’s breakthrough talent Archie Gray.

Any move for the Leeds United talent would be the second direct transfer between the Elland Road club and Manchester City in the past two seasons, following on from two exchanges in the midfield role.

In the summer of 2022, Kalvin Phillips signed for Manchester City on an initial six-year contract, with Etihad officials sanctioning a reported initial fee of £42 million, potentially rising to £45 million in add-ons.

Leeds’ latest highly-rated talent Finley Gorman then agreed to a move to Manchester City last November, with some reporting that a seven-figure fee was agreed upon by the relevant parties – a British record for a 15-year-old.

Now, Manchester City’s interest in breakthrough names rising at Leeds continues, with one of Daniel Farke’s first-team stars emerging as a potential target for Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering squad.

According to the information of HITC, Manchester City remain interested in the signing of Leeds United’s breakthrough 17-year-old wonderkid Archie Gray, alongside Premier League rivals Liverpool and Newcastle United.

It is detailed that the trio of Premier League clubs are continuing to ‘keep close tabs’ on the player this season, having shown an interest in signing the teenager during the most recent January transfer window.

Interest in Archie Gray comes just weeks after Manchester City raided the Argentine talent market, securing the services of talented playmaker Claudio Echeverri from River Plate, with the teenager remaining in South America until the end of the calendar year.

Manchester City’s place within the City Football Group means that the portfolio of clubs around the globe allows for the football business to develop talents in a number of high-profile leagues whilst being monitored by staff from within the City Football Academy simultaneously.
