BBC pundit wowed by Nottingham Forest 23-year-old
Stephen Kelly has heaped praise on Callum Hudson-Odoi after Newcastle beat Nottingham Forest yesterday.
The pundit was speaking to BBC Sport.
So, what has Kelly said about Forest winger Hudson-Odoi after the 3-2 win for the Magpies? Let’s take a closer look…
What Stephen Kelly said about Forest star Callum Hudson-Odoi
Well, Forest got some momentum just before half-time when Hudson-Odoi saw a speculative effort fly into the net via a deflection.
The wide-man was pretty impressive throughout the contest and richly deserved his goal – a second in successive weeks.
Kelly believes that ultimately, he got a little bit lucky but feels that Hudson-Odoi did really well for Forest nonetheless.
He told BBC Sport: “Callum Hudson-Odoi gets a little bit of luck here but he does so well to fashion the shot in the first instance.
“He drives at Kieran Trippier, little one-two and the shot takes a wicked deflection off Lewis Miley to send Marin Dubravka the wrong way.”
Winger starting to catch fire at Forest
It’s hard to believe that Forest star Hudson-Odoi is still only 23-years-old and that bodes well for Forest going forward.
Interestingly, the reason Forest managed to get the player for £3 million is down to injuries in recent years.
Yesterday, however, he was kicked from pillar to post by Newcastle and responded by continuing to prove for Forest.
Hudson-Odoi needs games at Forest and a consistent run of form to get going and after scoring two goals in his last two games, the signs are good.
It’s hard to imagine that the last few years have been easy for Hudson-Odoi but ultimately, he’s growing with each week.
Nuno Espirito Santo continues to pick him and hopefully, he can score more goals between now and the end of the season.
