Rangers scouts get Brighton seal of approval as Romano confirms £19.2m move
FC Nordsjælland striker and Right to Dream Academy graduate Ibrahim Osman looks set to follow Rangers star Mohamed Diomande into the UK.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Premier League Brighton have struck a €22.5m (£19.2m) deal to bring the 19-year-old Ghanaian to the AMEX.
It follows on from strong links between West Ham and Ibrahim Osman back in the January window, with the young striker one of the most highly-rated young forwards in Europe.
Should the deal be completed – with Osman to join Brighton in the summer – he will become the second Right to Dream Academy graduate to leave FC Nordsjælland in a matter of weeks.
Rangers secured a £4.3m loan-to-buy deal to bring Ivorian midfielder Mohamed Diomande to the club after four years in Denmark.
Right to Dream Academy pair head to UK
The Right to Dream Academy is a footballing social mobility project which offers scholarships to talented youngsters on the west coast of Africa.
Based in Ghana, there have been several youngsters come through the inspiring project in recent seasons with Mohamed Kudus – now of West Ham – perhaps the most prominent.
FC Nordsjælland have close links to the Academy and now they’re seeing two of their projects move on to the UK in very interesting transfers indeed.
Rangers are hoping Mohamed Diomande can help kickstart the club’s stuttering player trading model by making an impact at Ibrox and being sold for big money in the future.
It’s a testament to Ibrahim Osman’s ability that he’s been plucked straight from Scandinavia with Brighton’s recruitment department famously competent at signing players early.
Rangers get glimpse of Mohamed Diomande talent
Mohamed Diomande made his debut for Rangers in the midweek victory over Aberdeen and Ibrox fans got a little glimpse of the Ivorian’s ability.
Flipping the ball nonchalantly over the heads of two Aberdeen players and playing a pass off to the side, it was a moment which showed a flash of a talented player.
It’ll take a little time for Mohamed Diomande to settle into Rangers, but it’s fair to say there is some excitement around the midfielder.
The same will likely be true for Ibrahim Osman as he heads for Brighton, but by the time he lands on the south coast fans will be hoping his former teammate is well into his stride at Ibrox.
