Sky Sports pundit moots new contract talks for Rangers star

There could be new Ibrox contract talks incoming for John Lundstram at Rangers, according to pundit Kenny Miller.

The Sky Sports pundit made the claim during the Scottish Premiership meeting between Rangers and Aberdeen on Tuesday (6 February).

Lundstram started the clash under the lights at Ibrox, and has now made 35 appearances in all competitions this season.

“He’s arguably the most pivotal player since Clement came in,” Miller said live on Sky Sports Football (6 February, 8.22pm). “He’s been almost an ever-present since the Belgian came into the job, and his performance level has just been so, so consistent.

“It would not surprise me to see maybe new contract talks coming up, being out of contract at the end of the season. I think he would be a player that Clement would definitely want to have available to him next season.”

Rangers to open Lundstram talks?

Rangers simply cannot afford a repeat of last summer, when the likes of Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent left Ibrox at the end of their deals. Not only did the Scottish Premiership giants lose two key players, but hugely worryingly, they lost them for free.

Had a better structure been in place, they could have either kept them at Ibrox, or sold them for substantial fees before the expiry of their contracts.

Lundstram is now heading towards the final stages of his deal at the club, which will surely be at least looked at in the very near future.

The midfield ace has been superb under Philippe Clement this season, and would definitely be a big loss for the Belgian if he was to move on this summer.

Given his success in various aspects on and off the pitch at Ibrox so far, perhaps the man in the dugout has the Lundstram situation under control.
