Forest received last-minute £4m bid for 27-year-old, but Marinakis blocked transfer
Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall was the subject of a last-minute bid but Evangelos Marinakis scuppered the deal.

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis blocked Joe Worrall approach
Well, it would appear that another Turkish club tried to land Worrall and actually placed £4 million on the table.
However, according to Sabah, Marinakis had already given his word to a good friend of his.
Worrall has now signed for Besiktas from Forest and they are owned by Hasan Arat – with Marinakis not in the mood to scupper their friendship.
The 27-year-old was linked with several clubs in England, with Worrall fancied by Sheffield United and Leeds.
However, both parties would have preferred loan deals and didn’t fancy including an option to buy the player.
Worrall leaves the Reds after a long association with the club and he will be desperate to prove himself abroad.
Worrall now has chance to kick on again
It’s quite interesting that another club actually bid straight cash for Forest defender Worrall and it was rejected.
The player endured a bust-up with Steve Cooper when he was in charge of the club and that robbed him of regular game time.
Clearly, the defender is capable of doing a job somewhere and it will be fascinating to see how gets on with Besiktas.
The player hasn’t had a regular run of games since the start of the season and there could be a settling-in period for the defender.
Worrall made over 200 appearances for Forest and left when he was the captain of the club he supported as a boy.
With Marinakis seemingly good friends with the owner of Besiktas, surely it will become a formality that Worrall signs for the club permanently during the summer.
