Ibrox Exclusive: Bid submitted, Rangers eye move for left-footed English forward

Rangers are keeping close tabs on Stoke City ace Tyrese Campbell, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed that the Gers have revived their interest in the left-footed Championship forward, who is set to become a free agent in the summer.

The club were very interested in a move for Campbell four years ago, with Football Insider revealing at the time that they held talks with him to try and lure him away from the bet365 Stadium.

Now, Philippe Clement’s side could make a fresh attempt to secure the services of the 24-year-old, who is the son of former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell.

Campbell was the subject of a deadline date bid from side Hellas Verona, with sources telling Football Insider (1 February) that the Potters rejected a near-£1million bid from the Serie A side.

The Englishman returned to training early last month after recovering from injury and has since featured in Stoke’s last four league games.

Across 13 appearances this season in all competitions for Steven Schumacher’s side, he had scored two goals and provided one assist.

He started Stoke’s most recent Championship clash on Saturday (3 February) – a 5-0 thrashing by league leaders Leicester City.

Rangers are set to lose Fabio Silva at the end of the season when his loan move from Premier League outfit Wolves expires, meaning they are expected to add players to their frontline in the summer.

Campbell is a highly versatile attacker and has been played at left-wing, centre-forward, attacking midfield and right-midfield this season.

Rangers sit second in the Scottish top flight, with their 3-0 win against Livingston on Saturday (3 February) leaving them just three points behind Celtic with a game in hand.

They are next in action against eighth-place Aberdeen on Tuesday night (6 February).
