Pundit details what Clement won’t allow v Livingston amid Rangers ‘Gimme’ verdict

Rangers will not be allowed to take rock-bottom Livingston lightly despite many people thinking the Ibrox clash is a “gimme”, Derek Ferguson has said.

The in-form Gers welcome struggling Livi to Ibrox on Saturday looking to rack up a fourth straight Scottish Premiership and keep the pressure on rivals and leaders Celtic.

Livi are six points adrift at the foot of the table after drawing 2-2 with 11th-place Ross County last time out and it would be a monumental upset if they avoided defeat against Rangers.

Still, former Rangers man Ferguson – speaking to Ibrox News – thinks there has to be an element of caution, especially given the visitors are scrapping for survival down the bottom of the table.

“Livingston are fighting for their lives, they had a decent result against County because they had to come from behind a couple of times, so you’ve always just to be wary of that,” Ferguson said.

“On paper it looks an easy day’s work for Rangers but these are ones that can bite you in the backside.

“I think that’s the beauty of our manager, I don’t think he’ll allow the players to relax for a minute, they won’t take Livingston lightly.

“They’ll be professional but they’ll need to play well to beat Livingston because under David Martindale their attitude is spot on.

“Is the quality there? Maybe not, but you’ve got to be careful with these games because everybody thinks it’s just a gimme.”

Philippe Clement will make Rangers don’t relax

Rangers are in excellent form and it would be a huge shock if they do not get the job done against a side with only two league victories to their name all season.

But complacency can be an absolute killer, especially in a title race, so Ferguson’s absolutely right to be warning against thinking the job is already done.

Rangers have to approach this match the same as any other and give Livingston the proper respect because the last thing they want at this juncture is to end up with the proverbial egg on their face.
