The Lakers offered D’Angelo Russell, Jalen Hood-Schifino and draft picks to the Hawks for Murray, who has the same agent (Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group) as LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Atlanta was resistant to the inclusion of Russell unless a third team could be found to take on his contract. Russell has a player option next season worth $18.7 million.

Reaves is averaging 15.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.1 blocks this season while shooting 48.6% from the field, 34.4% from beyond the arc and 86.6% from the free-throw line. He’s making $12 million.

Murray is averaging 21.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.3 blocks while shooting 47.2% from the floor, 38.3% from 3 and 83.2% from the foul line. He’s making $17.7 million.

Finally, Russell is averaging 17.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.5 blocks while shooting 47.4% overall, 41.7% from 3-point range and 79.8% from the charity stripe. He’s making $17.3 million.

The Lakers are 24-25 on the season. They are in ninth place in the West. Meanwhile, the Hawks are 20-27. They are in 10th place in the East.

Atlanta beat Los Angeles on January 30 by a final score of 138-122. Reaves had 28 points and six assists, Russell had nine points and five assists and Murray had 24 points and nine assists.

The NBA trade deadline is February 8. It sounds like the Lakers won’t get Murray unless they offer the Hawks Reaves or find a third team to take Russell.
