‘Firm offer’ – Report: Rangers warn bidders over time wasting as stance emerges on key player

Rangers have issued a warning to potential bidders as Nottingham Forest made an attempt to sign Jack Butland, per the Daily Record.

Rangers warning as Nottingham Forest update emerges in Butland quest

The newspaper reported in its print edition on 31 January, page 50, that Gers have told any interested party that they’re wasting their time.

Forest made a late attempt to sign the 30-year-old but Gers have opted not to let him go.

The report reads: “After rejecting yesterday’s approach, they warned that any bidder would be wasting their time should they choose to follow up their initial interest with a firm offer.”

Fantastic stance

Nobody thought that Butland would’ve had the sort of impact he did back when he joined in the summer.

Many felt that he was a keeper on the decline and his best days were behind him but he’s managed to silence all his critics.

It’s a fair argument that Rangers would not have been in the title race had he not been there because he’s singlehandedly won his side plenty of points.

Under both Michael Beale and Philippe Clement, the Englishman has thrived and he’s even marshalled the defence supremely well in front of him.

Hopefully, no other club comes in with an offer before the transfer deadline as there’s always that little bit of fear when such things happen.

There’s nothing to indicate that Butland is angling for a move himself so that’s a huge bonus for Gers and a sigh of relief for their fans.
