‘There’s been talk…’ – Ferguson promotes Rangers bid to sign Kilmarnock ace before deadline

Rangers might be better served moving for Kilmarnock star Daniel Armstrong rather than pursuing Argentine forward Luca Langoni, according to Derek Ferguson.

It was reported by Standard journalist Dom Smith (15 January) that Rangers had made an approach for the 21-year-old Argentina attacker, who was also reportedly drawing interest from Fulham, Sevilla and Nice.

However, Ferguson thinks that it would be wiser for Rangers to at times look closer to home at players who have already proven they can perform in the Scottish Premiership.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, Ferguson said: “I don’t know a lot about the boy or Argentinian football, but coming here, different culture, it’s going to take time to settle in.

“There’s been talk of some players maybe even in our league where you could spend a hell of a lot of less money on a player that might come in and have an impact.

“I’m talking about the boy Armstrong at Kilmarnock who any time I’ve watched the boy over the last two or three years he’s always impressed.

“I don’t know enough about the boy (Langoni), sometimes there are just names thrown out there, for me it’s guys that are coming from all ends of the world it takes time to settle.

“Not just with teammates, but with different food, different lifestyle, the culture. In my opinion, I wouldn’t be going down that route to be honest with you.”
