Rangers expected to complete five transfer deals before end of January window – reports
Rangers reportedly look to set to confirm at least five transfer deals heading into the January transfer’s deadline this week.
The window slams shut on February 1st with Philippe Clement claiming the Gers will be busy until the “final seconds” of Wednesday night going into Thursday.
Having already added Fabio Silva and Mohamed Diomande to the squad, Rangers are not done there with three players reportedly targeted this week.
Conversely, the club is also reportedly negotiating the sales of two first-teamers with upheaval imminent at Ibrox in the transfer window.
Rangers transfer news: three in
Of those players who are reportedly coming into Rangers, Oscar Cortes appears to be the name which is closest.
It hasn’t happened for the Colombian winger, 20, since moving to RC Lens in the summer and the Gers look set to strike an option-to-buy deal for the player.
Uploading an image from a hotel room last night, an announcement looks increasingly likely and we suspect this is going to be the first name of any trio announced this week.
Rangers are also said to be on the hunt for a striker – something Philippe Clement has alluded to in his press conferences – although there is no name which has broke as of yet.
Lawrence Shankland is the name which has been doing the rounds all month but as of yet, Hearts haven’t received any bids for their talismanic forward.
Finally, Rangers have reportedly targeted Brazilian left-back Jefte in lieu of Borna Barisic’s contract situation and links to Turkish international Ridvan Yilmaz.
The 20-year-old is on loan at APOEL from Brazilian side Fluminense with the ball in the Cypriot side’s court and a move edging closer given they’ve just signed a replacement.
Ibrox January exit latest: two out
That takes us very nicely to the situation with potential outgoings from the squad, with Ridvan Yilmaz strongly linked to Turkish outfit Galatasaray.
Having moved to Ibrox from the Turkish club’s Super Lig rivals Besiktas 18 months ago, it’s taken until recently for fans to begin to see the best of the player.
In that way, there’s a tinge of sadness about Yilmaz’s potential exit although the sorts of transfer fees involved may free up money to be spent in more pressing areas of the squad.
The other player being linked to the exit door is Jose Cifuentes, the Ecuadorean international midfielder having enjoyed a difficult first six months in Glasgow.
Struggling to settle after joining late in the summer window from the MLS, competition now sees Cifuentes down the packing order in Glasgow.
There are reportedly offers on the table from Rizespor in Turkey and Cruzeiro in Brazil.
