Leed Regain Full Back considering his attacking ability

Leeds United have offered St Truiden defender Daiki Hashioka a contract lasting until 2028 amid interest in the Japan international, to netsport report

It was reported earlier on Sunday (28 January), as per David Van den Broeck, that talks between the two parties were “well advanced”, with the full-back keen on a move to Elland Road.

Much-needed replacement

Hashioka could be the ideal replacement at full-back for Daniel Farke, with the club yet to fill the vacancy in the position left by Luke Ayling and Djed Spence.

Full-back is one of the lightest positions, in terms of squad depth, at Elland Road, especially with the likes of Sam Byram, Jamie Shackleton and Junior Firpo all suffering from injuries at different points in the season.

Hashioka could be a perfect fit at Leeds, considering his attacking ability. In his senior career, the defender has registered eight goals and 21 assists in 187 appearances across spells with Urawa Red Diamonds and St Truiden.

His ability to fly up and down the flank will suit Farke’s attacking style of play, with Firpo the latest defender to get in on the action, bagging two assists in his last four appearances.

Having missed out on the Asian Cup this year with Japan, a move to Leeds could help restart his career, especially at international level.

Leeds fans need to keep their eyes peeled for this transfer announcement.
