New Rangers signing Mohamed Diomande is expected in Glasgow by the middle of next week, according to Charlie Gordon.

The Daily Express journalist shared on his X account (27 January) that the 22-year-old’s arrival at Ibrox is still “slightly delayed” as he’s still awaiting a work permit.

As per Rangers’ official X account (26 January), the Gers have signed Diomande from FC Nordsjaelland on a loan until the end of the season, with an obligation to make the transfer permanent in the summer for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old, highly rated in Denmark, is still held up and will arrive in Glasgow once his work permit application has been confirmed.

Gordon posted: “Mohamed Diomande rated highly in Denmark – exciting move for Rangers.

“Understand he’s expected in Glasgow by the middle of next week – 22yo’s arrival is slightly delayed as he’s still awaiting a work permit.”

Rangers have only gone and picked up a major coup in the transfer market and just the kind of talent Philippe Clement needs in order to bolster his midfield ranks at Ibrox.

For a number of years now, Diomande has been one of the most prized midfield assets in Denmark and it’s been a real surprise that none of the well-renowned clubs in Europe made their move for him.

At just 22 years old, and having played 13 times for Nordsjaelland this season where he picked up three assists, Rangers have a real exciting talent on their hands with Diomande.

A midfielder has always been high on the list of priorities at Ibrox this January as a result of the issues they have faced with squad depth and injuries to key players, often leading to Dujon Sterling filling in outside of his usual right-back position.

Diomande arrives at Ibrox with burgeoning promise and the potential to be an instant hit and fan-favourite amongst the Rangers supporters possessing tremendous technical ability, vision and a workhorse-like mentality that the Gers have needed for a long while now.

However, the Gers face a bit of a waiting game to see him officially at Ibrox given his work permit situation but that should really be a formality given the Brexit and EU restrictions.

It looks set to be a busy end to the window at Ibrox, with a new left-back and striker still wanted by Rangers but this Diomande pick-up should really excite the Light Blues fanbase as they look to continue their upward trajectory under Clement’s management.

Tremendous deal. Top signing.
