Nottingham Forest are edging closer to bringing in Borussia Dortmund midfielder Giovanni Reyna ahead of the deadline on Thursday.

The Reds are looking to strengthen where they can and manager Nuno Santo is determined to add a few new players to his squad before the deadline passes.

Reyna, 21, has been identified as a player of interest for Forest and Nuno and it looks like there is some movement when it comes to the deal being done.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Forest are now pushing on with signing Reyna and discussions are taking place on the player’s side as well.

Romano has taken to X to provide the update and has claimed that negotiations between the clubs are ongoing, while Reyna himself is also part of the discussion as well.

Reyna would add more firepower and attacking prowess to the Forest midfield in what could be a tricky end to the season for them.

With a points deduction potentially coming their way, Forest need to be at their best and adding Reyna to the mix gives them extra options.

Reyna improves Nottingham Forest

While it’s always been sunshine and roses for Gio Reyna, he is a talented player who has plenty in the tank when it comes to natural ability.

Reyna’s addition to Forest would give them an added goal threat and that could be crucial for the Reds as the season enters a vital period.

The £50k-a-week midfielder – who Clint Dempsey has lauded as as a ‘dangerous’ player from set-pieces – has done the business in Germany and shown he can do it for the USA as well.

Forest, then, would be getting a good signing here and at a big point in the season, a much needed boost.
