Newcastle
What insiders now predict will occur at Newcastle this summer.
It has been a frustrating month for Newcastle United on the transfer front.
FFP restrictions are said to be annoying those behind the scenes at Newcastle, with the club yet to bring anyone in during the January transfer window.
Instead, much of the focus has largely centred around players potentially leaving.
Still, as frustrating as it has been, its important to remember that this will surely not be the case forever.
Indeed, it seems big things are expected at St James’ Park this summer.
Newcastle transfer news: What is expected to happen this summer
According to iNews, sources behind the scenes expect the club to undergo a “major rebuild.”
Revenues are expected to improve by then thanks to the club’s Champions League participation and the potential sale of Bruno Guimaraes for £100m could reportedly unlock as much as £80m in FFP headroom.
Should a key player such as the Brazilian leave, the report tells supporters to “brace” themselves for some “major incomings”.
Newcastle transfer news: Exciting times
This season has been frustrating. A mixture of FFP concerns, the injury crisis and some frankly ridiculous cup draws have not made things easy.
Still, Newcastle boast a young team capable of going places. The likes of Alexander Isak, Sven Botman, Tino Livramento, Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon look as if they can provide excitement for many years to come.
Even if someone like Guimaraes is sold, there’s enough reason to be excited for the future. With more money likely to be available this summer, there’s every chance even more good players will arrive.
There have been wins over Chelsea, Arsenal, both Manchester clubs, Aston Villa and Paris Saint-Germain this season, even during a difficult period. The base is there for Eddie Howe and PIF to take this team onto a new level.
